Knowing Your Devices
So your child has a shiny new tablet or computer? That’s cool! But… there are dangers involved, and there’s lots of them. Even on Smart TV’s and games consoles. In this unit, we talk about the potential risks associated with devices kids are using today.
Knowing Your Platforms
Ever heard of Kik, imvu or Roblox? Your child probably has. New apps are released daily so it’s extremely important that you are aware of their risks. In this unit, we discover the dangers of the most popular apps and websites with children.
This section of the course focuses on online dangers for your child, how to protect them from these dangers and what to look out for.
Unfortunately, bullying can happen anywhere and online is no exception. With the growth of social networking and internet connected devices, cyber bullying has risen dramatically. This unit explores how you can prevent cyber bullying for your child.
This unit helps you understand what sexting is, why your child may be sexting, where sexting takes place, the risks involved for your child and how you can protect them.
Grooming is the way in which somebody may get close to your child, with the intention of sexually exploiting them. In this unit, we help you realise how grooming happens, what signs to look out for and what to do if grooming takes place.
Social media has presented extremist groups with the opportunity to radicalise young people by privately communicating with them and offer advice and encouragement. In this unit, we talk about what to look out for that may indicate your child has been radicalised online.
Online Reputation & Oversharing
Imagine your child has sent a rude picture, then the picture is printed and stuck around their school. Once something is shared online, it makes it difficult to remove. In this module, we explore ways to protect your child’s online reputation and discover how to prevent them oversharing personal information.
Tips for Parents
We know it’s not just your children who are exposed to online dangers, you are just as important! We made this unit to teach you about the dangers that apply to you, such as fraud.
We know there’s a lot to take in! So this unit summarises the key ways that you can keep your child safe online, how you can chat about online safety with them and what you can do if something does go wrong.
There are interactive tips and quizzes incorporated into the course to help you implement all the information you have learnt during each unit.
Covers a large amount of risks for children online, including current information about online dangers and the newest platforms.
We discuss what dangers to look out for and how to prevent them, and how to communicate with your child about their online presence.
